Do I need to bring my referral with me?
Yes, you need to bring your Bloody Good referral with you to the collection centre. Bonus points if you bring a printed copy! If you don't have a printer or can't get your referral printed, call the collection centre and ask if they are happy for you to forward your referral for them to print for you.
Your referral is emailed to you after you place your order and have verified your account. It is also available to download from your account. You don't need to bring anything else.
Do I need to fast before my blood test?
Some blood tests require you to fast beforehand as the food in your body affects the chemicals in your blood and this is important for some tests such as glucose (blood sugar) and triglycerides (part of the cholesterol, or lipid, panel).
What else do I need to do before my test?
If a specific test has any specific preparation requirements, they'll be outlined on the product page and in your referral. However our general suggestions are found below:
If doing a fasted test, do not eat or drink for at least 8 hours prior to your blood test (and no longer than 16)
Drinking water before your blood test is fine and can help the collector find your veins and reduce the risk of fainting
If you are living with diabetes, please consult your doctor before fasting
If you have fainted, or come close to fainting, when giving blood previously, please inform the collector before the blood test so they can help you and make sure everything goes ok
